We are all familiar with the concept of “bedside manner” in a physician visit. A doctor’s behavior, approach, and communication, both verbal and nonverbal, to the patient can make the person feel comfortable, reassured, and supported. A patient who is comfortable will communicate openly and honestly, be more likely to adhere to treatments, feel less stress and anxiety and experience better health outcomes. Throughout their training, doctors receive feedback and instruction on this critical component of patient care.
But what about virtual care? In our latest video, we talk to experts in “webside manner,” about how bedside manner is being translated into the virtual space, how doctors are being trained in this new medium, and what best practices can ensure a high quality virtual experience.
