Julian Flannery

Founder & CEO

Julian has built the leading marketplace for medical expertise and is an industry speaker and thought leader. He previously served on the management team and was Managing Director, Global Research at Gerson Lehrman Group, the world’s largest membership-based platform for professional expertise. He oversaw GLG’s service operation, products, and content, and directed management of its 400,000+ expert membership base. He formerly worked at Morgan Stanley as Associate and Chief of Staff to the Chairman & CEO and in Special Situations and Investment Banking. In 2001, he served in The White House as an aid to the Chief of Staff to the President. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and A.B. in Economics from Duke University.

Mary Mulcare, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Mary Mulcare serves as the Company’s Chief Medical Officer and oversees all clinical aspects of Summus operations. Mary also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine, and has held several leadership roles at Weill Cornell, including Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Assistant Director of the Margaret and Ian Smith Clinical Skills Center. She brings deep medical experience and a commitment to patient and physician education. She continues to make significant academic contributions to the fields of medical education and Geriatric Emergency Medicine. Mary completed her undergraduate education at Princeton University and obtained her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, graduating with honors from the AOA Medical Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Society. She served as Chief Resident of the Emergency Medicine residency program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and completed a fellowship in Geriatric Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Jessica Spiegel

Senior Vice President of Member Experience

Jessica is a founding member of Summus and leads Member Experience and Customer Success teams. She oversees all aspects of the member experience for Summus clients and leads the Customer Success team responsible for maximizing the value Summus delivers to its clients. Jessica was previously Vice President at Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), where she was responsible for product strategy and managed relationships for financial services clients. Prior to GLG, Jessica was an associate in the commercial real estate department at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP. Jessica holds a J.D from Fordham Law School and an A.B. with highest honors from The Johns Hopkins University.

Dennis Purcell

Chief Operating Officer

Denny is a founding member of Summus, and serves as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he oversees all day-to-day operations and leads Summus’ data strategy. Denny also oversees relationships with Academic Medical Centers where Summus supports virtual specialty care programs. He formerly worked at UBS Investment Bank as an investment banker in the Leveraged Finance Group. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and A.B. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College, where he was a Research Associate for former U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.

Sanders DeNardi

Chief Technology Officer

Sanders is a founding member of Summus, and leads the engineering team. He has over 10 years’ experience in software development spanning multiple industries. Prior to Summus, Sanders was a senior software engineer at Relationship Science, a platform allowing professionals to leverage their personal networks to connect with businesses and people, where he developed auditing tools and led the Android development team. Previously he served as a database engineer at S&P Capital IQ, developing internal data collection and ownership tools. Sanders holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia.

Charles Hill

Head of Product

Charlie leads the Product function at Summus and brings over 20 years’ experience in software product management and innovation. Prior to Summus, he served as Head of Product at TrademarkNow, a pioneering artificial intelligence legal-tech startup that was sold to Corsearch Inc. in 2020. Previously he led product development efforts at Gerson Lehrman Group and at Getty Images, developed an innovation-strategy consulting unit within Deloitte around The Innovator’s Solution bestseller, and served as a Global Brand Manager at Activision Inc. Charlie holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an A.B. in Political Economy from Princeton University.

Nick Razzi

Chief Sales Officer

Nick oversees all aspects of commercial sales and revenue generation for Summus. Nick has more than 16 years’ experience in executive sales management and scaling high performing sales organizations. Prior to Summus, he served as the VP of Sales at Colibri Group, a leading online learning solution for professionals to manage and advance their careers which was sold in 2019. Previously, he led the Paychex Insurance Agency sales organization where he was responsible for overall sales strategy, client retention and sales training. Nick holds an A.B. in Business Management from the University of Delaware.

Liz Horgan

Chief Marketing Officer

Liz leads marketing for Summus and has worked across the healthcare industry for more than 20 years, with experience in healthcare technology, payers, and population health organizations both in the US and globally. Prior to joining Summus Global, Liz led the Care Engagement team in the Aetna/CVS Office of the Consumer. She has also built and led successful marketing teams for Silverlink Communications, a healthcare technology company serving payers and pharmacy organizations, as well as Health Dialog, a leading population health coaching company that was acquired by Rite Aid. Liz holds an A.B. from Harvard College.

Sue Swan

Senior Vice President of People

Sue oversees the people strategy for Summus and provides direction in all areas of HR management. She is an accomplished people leader and engaged culture maven who brings the emotional intelligence to build and scale dynamic growth organizations. With more than 20 years in global technology organizations, Sue has extensive experience executing growth strategies that attract talented individuals to create collaborative, transparent leaders in growth phase companies. Prior to joining Summus, Sue served as the Sr. Director of Human Resources at Parallel Wireless, a global employer for emerging mobile technology, where she created the overall HR foundation as the company expanded to 7 countries. Sue prides herself on leading by example, and knows that by showcasing the talents of the team members, success will always follow.
