What is a typical consultation experience?
Consultations are simple and efficient. Here’s how they work:
- The Summus team will contact you with a blinded, short description of a member’s health concern or question.
- You may accept the case by choosing one of the available time slots listed for the member’s consultation.
- Upon accepting the case, the Summus MD will have access to the case page prior to the consultation to review case details.
- At the scheduled time, the Summus MD and member will connect via our outbound calling system or via Summus’ secure digital platform for video.
- The Summus MD has three options for triaging the case upon completion: resolving it with clinical guidance, referring to our member experience team for a personalized provider referral for in-person care, or escalation to virtual expert consultation with a member of the Summus specialty network.
- Payment is made to the provider on a weekly basis.
What types of cases will I be asked to consult on?
Summus welcomes our members to ask about any health question or concern. In general, the topics of the consultations span all areas of medicine, including preventative care, ongoing health management inquiries, understanding new diagnoses and care plans, to considerations on surgery and novel therapeutics. The goal of the consultation is to better delineate the member’s health concerns in order to provide them guidance on the best next step in their health journey. We match physicians to cases that coincide with their areas of interest.
